INTERVIEW WITH DIEGO AGUAS: THE KING OF MARCHICA
We have managed to get the great Dj Diego Aguas to make a mini stop on the way before going up to Marchica (and among its hundreds of events throughout Spain) so that he can stop by our office to answer us at a few questions, how lucky we are! For those of you who don't know Diego very well, although if you have been to Marchica , to Formigal , you already know that it is impossible not to know his name; he is one of the people who catapulted this place to the reference party of après ski in Spain. Although Formi is not the only place to find him, since he has worked throughout Spain, both in private events or weddings, as well as in festivals. He combines his work in the north with a lot of activity in the summer in the south, very often in Cádiz. He also has time to DJ in the capital, venues like Teatro Barceló or Florida Retiro have enjoyed his music. He has shared the stage with other talents such as Sidecars, Dj Nano, Les Castizos, Carlos Jean… and many others! If you want to see his entire career, we leave you here his website of him.
Diego, who started as a resident DJ in Marchica, now comes with many new projects, anecdotes and musical recommendations for everyone.
ULLER: Diego, you are a benchmark for fiestas in Spain, but how did it all start? How long have you been DJing?
DIEGO AGUAS: Well, really, it all started a bit by chance... I loved it and I liked music of all kinds. One day I was in a friend's pub and there was no DJ, so I jumped in and started playing songs, one after the other. Well, the truth was that a brown got involved hahahahaha and that's how it all started.
I've been DJing since 2008, very little from my point of view to be honest.
ULLER: Working in music is complicated, how is your experience?
DIEGO AGUAS: For me, working on this is truly a real pleasure. May your hobby be your job in the end it is. And so far things are not bad! Hahaha.
ULLER: What advice would you give to a future DJ?
DIEGO AGUAS: Always try to have a good time in the booth to spread that joy to your audience!!
ULLER: Referents? We want to know your idols.
DIEGO AGUAS: Well, to tell you the truth, I really don't have any idols in music… hahaha. For me, my idols are the people around me, they are the ones I pay attention to and have as a reference.
ULLER: When we think of a DJ, we imagine that his whole day and life revolves around music. Do you deny or confirm this? What are your favorite hobbies?
DIEGO AGUAS: Well, really, mine is like all jobs... Although it is true that when you go out to parties or go to festivals you keep working listening to what they put on, it's impossible to disconnect! Hahaha. But apart from music, I love snowboarding, cycling, going to concerts, cooking... and above all traveling and traveling... these would be my hobbies.
ULLER: In winter in snowy mountains and in summer on the coast, where do you most enjoy DJing?
DIEGO AGUAS: Well, in both places equally!! If so, what more could you ask for!! You imagine? Views in the office of the snow and the beach!! And always people giving their all!!!
ULLER: When you are working in these places, do you have time to practice any sport, for example, skiing, snowboarding, surfing...?DIEGO AGUAS: Of course!! When I'm in the south I usually hit the bike (the sea doesn't really like me hahaha) And in winter of course, good snow!!! Yes, I am even a snow monitor! Hahaha.
ULLER: You've been to so many places that you'll have a thousand anecdotes to tell. What is the craziest anecdote that happened to you at a party?
DIEGO AGUAS: Buaaaahhhh... So many have happened to me, I wouldn't know what to tell you...! It's that there are a thousand! But once I remember in Marchica that with all the rush I got on the DJ's mixing desk, and well... I stepped on it!! Imagine I left 2000 people without music! But I managed to get by singing into the microphone and dancing until my buddy put on music again, it was epic! People didn't stop and kept going!ULLER: Covid-19 has brought the party to a standstill. Do you think there has been a before and after for people? And in the music scene?
DIEGO AGUAS: In my opinion, in the music scene I think there has been a break in great songs like Avicii (poor thing), Garrix, etc… And yet reggaeton has invaded us hehehe.
ULLER: During the confinement, music was a salvation. Were you one of those who carried out lives on Instagram or did you prefer to disconnect?
DIEGO AGUAS: I did some!! Then it would happen to me that he beat me for eight hours in a row without realizing it because I couldn't stop and I didn't realize it, crazy! Ha ha ha.
ULLER: Moving on to a more professional scene, do you have any future projects that we can learn about?
DIEGO AGUAS: There is something, there is something… Especially a matter of private events and a party in Madrid. This will be in petit committee, but very cool and once a week, I will inform you! Hahaha.
ULLER: Last season you couldn't play in Marchica, but what expectations do you have for this season?
DIEGO AGUAS: To be honest this season we are still waiting, most likely it will go, but loose dates. Today I have events throughout Spain and it is difficult to combine and balance everything, so I can no longer be up there for the entire season…
ULLER: Speaking of Marchica, you are the one who reconverted it and made it the elite of the party in winter, how was it?
DIEGO AGUAS: Yes!! Since its beginning I have been there!! Thanks also to the fact that I had very good companions with whom we managed to make this a benchmark après ski in Spain. The truth is that I am proud of that, although to achieve it we worked a lot and invested you don't know how many hours. And well… The beginnings were very cold too hahahaha.
ULLER: Looking back, what is the place where you have played that you remember most fondly? Because?
DIEGO AGUAS: I think without a doubt in Marchica with my partner Javi Morata and the entire marketing team from those years… We made a brutal team!! You can not imagine, we have experienced everything in that cabin... But it is very difficult to choose, there are many other places and special moments too...
ULLER: Finally, let's go with a battery of short questions, ready? 3, 2, 1... The song that always triumphs? Reggaeton, trap, electronic, house... what are you from? A song to come up? One of "calm"? Your favorite of the moment?
DIEGO AGUAS:
- The song that always wins is definitely Sweet Caroline.
- What I'm about is messing around! Hahaha.
- To varnish above Levels.
- To stay calm, I prefer Where is my mind by Pixies.
- My favorite of the moment I would say Save your tears from The Weeknd.
Finally, we would like to thank Diego for his time and his sincerity in all the answers and for the little time he has given us, we have loved it! We can't wait for the next party we can go to where he DJs because we don't miss it! If you don't want to miss anything from him either, don't forget to follow him on his Instagram @diegoaguasdj
Has he also conveyed good vibes and partying to you just with his words? If he has it inside!
